It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a complete suit (hullah) and a Syrian (regional) garment (thawb shami) were presented to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) gave me the suit and clothed Sayyiduna Usamah (may Allah be pleased with him) with the Syrian garment. So I went off wearing my suit, and (later) the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked Sayyiduna Usamah (may Allah be pleased with him): "What have you done with your (Syrian) garment?" Sayyiduna Usamah said: "I have given it to my wife to wear." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said (to this): "Then instruct her to wear under it a (second) fine garment that does not reveal the size of her bones to men."
This hadith was also narrated by Zuhayr bin Muhammad from Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqil, from Ibn Usamah, from his father (Sayyiduna Usamah bin Zayd, may Allah be pleased with him).
