قَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى ، ثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدَّتِهِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا ، قَالَتْ : إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا وَهِيَ تَخْتَضِبُ ، فَقَالَ : هَلَّا يَا أُمَّ فُلَانٍ ، هَكَذَا عَلَى ظَهْرِ كَفِّهِ ، يَعْنِي النَّقْشَ .
It is narrated from a grandmother (may Allah be pleased with her) from Banu Sulaym that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to her at a time when she was applying dye (khidab) (to her hands), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O mother of so-and-so! If only you had applied it like this, in the form of a pattern on the back of your hand!" Saying this, he (peace and blessings be upon him) pointed to the back of (his) hand, meaning the pattern (design) of the dye.
