وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : " حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ ، ثَنَا مُعَلَّى بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ زِيَادً النُّمَيْرِيَّ ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : بَيْنَمَا رَجُلٌ مِمَّنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ خَرَجَ فِي بُرْدَيْنِ ، فَاخْتَالَ فِيهِمَا ، فَأَمَرَ اللهُ [تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى] الْأَرْضَ فَأَخَذَتْهُ فَهُوَ يَتَجَلْجَلُ فِيهَا إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A man from the nations before you went out wearing two costly cloaks and began to strut proudly in them. So Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, commanded the earth, and the earth seized him (and swallowed him), and he will keep sinking into the depths of the earth until the Day of Resurrection."
