قَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ ، ثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : سَأَلَتْ فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ قَيْسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْمُسْتَحَاضَةِ ، فَقَالَ : " عُدِّي أَيَّامَ أَقْرَائِكِ " . وَأَمَرَهَا أَنْ تَحْتَشِيَ وَتُصَلِّيَ وَتَغْتَسِلَ لِكُلِّ طُهْرٍ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyidah Fatimah bint Qays (may Allah be pleased with her) asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about the woman who suffers from istihadah (abnormal, continuous bleeding outside menstruation). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Keep count of the days on which you used to menstruate." He (peace and blessings be upon him) also ordered her: "She should use a cloth or cotton (to hold back the blood), perform the prayer, and take the ritual bath (ghusl) each time she attains purity (that is, when the days of menstruation end)."
