It is narrated from Amrah bint Abd al-Rahman (may Allah have mercy on her) that the Mother of the Believers, Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), used to forbid women from examining their condition at night during the days of menstruation (to look for the sign of purity), and she would say: "It may be that (in the dim light of night) yellowness or turbidity (cannot be seen clearly and is taken for whiteness)."
The chain of this hadith is hasan (good), and Imam Ibn Abi Shaybah narrated it in al-Musannaf (no. 1060).
