It is narrated from an elder of Banu Bakr bin Wa'il that one day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) brought out a piece of a black embroidered cloth, tied it to a spear, waved it, and then said: "Who will take it with its right?" The Muslims were awed by the strict condition attached to it (and remained silent). Then a man stood up and said: "O Messenger of Allah! I will take it with its right." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "(Its right is that) you do not fight a Muslim with it, and do not turn your back and flee with it from a disbeliever."
