It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that he gave this ruling concerning quasi-deliberate killing (shibh al-'amd, a killing that occurs from a blow with a stick or a heavy stone): "Its blood-money will consist of three equal parts: one third jadha'ah (five-year-old she-camels), one third hiqaq (four-year-old she-camels), and one third from thaniyyah (six-year-olds) up to she-camels reaching their ninth year (bazil)."
Imam Yazid said: To the best of my knowledge he also specified that those she-camels must be "khalifah", that is, necessarily pregnant.
