It is narrated from a man of the tribe of Thaqif: I was present in the gathering of Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) when suddenly a Bedouin came to him and began demanding financial compensation for a head wound (shajjah). Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "We, the people who live in the towns and settlements, do not exchange blood-money or share it through the aqilah among ourselves for minor matters such as a wound the size of a lump of flesh or a bite with the teeth (mudagh)."
