قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ : أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونِ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : كَانَتْ أُمُّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتُ عُقْبَةَ تَحْتَ الزُّبَيْرِ بْنِ الْعَوَّامِ ، فَخَرَجَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ ، وَقَدْ ضَرَبَهَا الطَّلْقُ ، فَكَتَمَتْهُ ، فَقَالَتْ لَهُ : طَيِّبْ قَلْبِي بِتَطْلِيقَةٍ ، فَطَلَّقَهَا ، وَرَجَعَ وَقَدْ وَضَعَتْ .
فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَسَأَلَهُ فَقَالَ : " بَلَغَ الْكِتَابُ أَجَلَهُ ، اخْطُبْهَا إِلَى نَفْسِهَا " . فَقَالَ : مَا لَهَا خَدَعَتْنِي خَدَعَهَا اللهُ تَعَالَى . !
فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَسَأَلَهُ فَقَالَ : " بَلَغَ الْكِتَابُ أَجَلَهُ ، اخْطُبْهَا إِلَى نَفْسِهَا " . فَقَالَ : مَا لَهَا خَدَعَتْنِي خَدَعَهَا اللهُ تَعَالَى . !
Maymun bin Mihran (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Sayyidah Umm Kulthum bint Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with her) was married to Sayyiduna al-Zubayr bin al-Awwam (may Allah be pleased with him). Once, Sayyiduna al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) was setting out for the prayer while Sayyidah Umm Kulthum's labour pains (the pain of childbirth) had already begun, but she kept this hidden and pleaded with him to please her heart by giving her one divorce. So he divorced her, but when he returned from the prayer she had already given birth and her waiting period had ended at once.
Thereupon he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and explained the situation, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The prescribed term has reached its end; now, if you wish, propose marriage to her again." Hearing this, Sayyiduna al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) exclaimed: "What is the matter with her? She deceived me; may Allah deceive her!"
Thereupon he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and explained the situation, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The prescribed term has reached its end; now, if you wish, propose marriage to her again." Hearing this, Sayyiduna al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) exclaimed: "What is the matter with her? She deceived me; may Allah deceive her!"
