It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The likeness of a righteous and chaste woman among women in general is like that of the 'ghurab a'sam' (a rare crow with white limbs)." It was asked: O Messenger of Allah, what is meant by the ghurab a'sam? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The crow one of whose wings is white."
According to the imams and commentators, the purpose of this comparison is that, just as a crow with white limbs is extremely rare and scarce among its kind, in exactly the same way a righteous woman, adorned in the true sense with perfect piety and praiseworthy qualities, is very rare among the many women.
