وَقَالَ الْحَارِثُ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ، نَبَا الْأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ أَبِي ظِبْيَانَ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمْ قَالَ : لَمَّا قَدِمَ مُعَاذٌ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ مِنَ الْيَمَنِ قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ قَوْمًا يَسْجُدُ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ ، أَفَلَا نَسْجُدُ لَكَ ؟ قَالَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَوْ أَمَرْتُ شَيْئًا يَسْجُدُ لِشَيْءٍ لَأَمَرْتُ النِّسَاءَ يَسْجُدْنَ لِأَزْوَاجِهِنَّ " .
قَالَ الْأَعْمَشُ : فَذَكَرْتُهُ لِإِبْرَاهِيمَ ، فَقَالَ : لَوْ أَنَّ امْرَأَةً لَحَسَتْ أَنْفَ زَوْجِهَا مِنَ الْجُذَامِ مَا أَدَّتْ حَقَّهُ .
قَالَ الْأَعْمَشُ : فَذَكَرْتُهُ لِإِبْرَاهِيمَ ، فَقَالَ : لَوْ أَنَّ امْرَأَةً لَحَسَتْ أَنْفَ زَوْجِهَا مِنَ الْجُذَامِ مَا أَدَّتْ حَقَّهُ .
It is narrated from a Companion of the Ansar (may Allah be pleased with him) that when Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) returned from Yemen (after conveying the religion), he said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I saw people there prostrating to one another (out of reverence); so should we not prostrate to you (peace and blessings be upon him)? At this the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If I were to order any (created being) to prostrate to another, I would certainly order women to prostrate to their husbands."
Imam al-A'mash (may Allah have mercy on him) relates: I mentioned this hadith to Imam Ibrahim al-Nakha'i (may Allah have mercy on him), and he said (explaining the importance of the husband's right): If a woman were to lick clean with her tongue the discharge of leprosy (judham) from her husband's nose, she still would not fully fulfil his marital right.
