قَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ بَقِيَّةَ ، نَبَا خَالِدٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي مَسْلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : بَعَثَتْنِي أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ... فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ .
قَالَ : ثُمَّ أَخَذَ بِيَدِي فَخَرَجْنَا ، وَكَانَ حَدِيثَ عَهْدٍ بِعُرْسِ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ جَحْشٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا ، فَمَرَّ بِنِسَائِهِ فَهَنَّأْنَهُ ، وَهَنَّأَهُ النَّاسُ ، فَقَالُوا : الْحَمْدُ لِلهِ ، أَقَرَّ اللهُ عَيْنَكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ! الْحَدِيثَ .
قَالَ : ثُمَّ أَخَذَ بِيَدِي فَخَرَجْنَا ، وَكَانَ حَدِيثَ عَهْدٍ بِعُرْسِ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ جَحْشٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا ، فَمَرَّ بِنِسَائِهِ فَهَنَّأْنَهُ ، وَهَنَّأَهُ النَّاسُ ، فَقَالُوا : الْحَمْدُ لِلهِ ، أَقَرَّ اللهُ عَيْنَكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ! الْحَدِيثَ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Mother of the Believers Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) sent me into the blessed presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Then the narrator related the full story, that Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) took my hand and we went out. This was the time when he (peace and blessings be upon him) had recently married Sayyidah Zaynab bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with her). So he (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by his other pure wives and they offered him (peace and blessings be upon him) congratulations, and other people also congratulated him (peace and blessings be upon him), saying: 'Alhamdu lillah, aqarra Allahu aynaka ya Rasul Allah' (All praise belongs to Allah alone; O Messenger of Allah, may Allah Almighty keep your eyes cool).
This narration makes clear the beautiful manner in which the pure wives and the noble Companions offered congratulations on a joyful occasion such as a marriage, and the lofty values of the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) domestic life.
