It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah al-Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: "I did not hear from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) (while he was calling out the talbiyah) anything except these words: 'Labbayk Allahumma labbayk, labbayk la sharika lak, innal-hamda wan-ni'mata lak' (Here I am, O Allah, here I am; here I am, You have no partner; indeed all praise and blessings are Yours alone). And I did not hear him (peace and blessings be upon him) mention Hajj or Umrah (in the talbiyah)."
Imam Mujahid relates that Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) used to add this phrase to these words: "And the dominion too is Yours; You have no partner."
I (Ibn Hajar, the compiler) say: This narration is narrated in the Sahih, through Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) herself, with this addition (that is, the word 'al-mulk'), but her statement that he (peace and blessings be upon him) did not mention Hajj or Umrah is not found there.
