وَقَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْرَائِيلَ ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ ، عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ حَذَفٍ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ، أَوْ حُذَيْفَةَ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا - أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ - صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : أَشْرَكَ بَيْنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ فِي هَدْيِهِمْ : الْبَقَرَةُ عَنْ سَبْعَةٍ .
Imam Abu Dawud (may Allah have mercy on him) relates that it is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali or Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) made the Muslims partners in their sacrificial animals (hady) and said: "One cow suffices on behalf of seven people."
