قَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، ثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَتْ : كَانَتْ عَائِشَةُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا تَطُوفُ بِالْبَيْتِ مُنَقَّبَةً .
قَالَ : وَكَانَ عَطَاءٌ يَكْرَهُهُ ، حَتَّى حَدَّثْتُهُ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ ، فَكَانَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ يُفْتِي بِهِ .

It is narrated from Sayyidah Safiyyah bint Shaybah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Mother of the Believers, Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), used to perform tawaf of the Ka'bah with a veil (niqab) over her face.
The narrator relates that Imam Ata bin Abi Rabah (may Allah have mercy on him) used to dislike this practice, but when I narrated to him this hadith about the practice of Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), after that he began to give fatwas that it was permissible.
