It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ma'qil bin Abi Ma'qil (may Allah be pleased with him) that his mother came into the noble presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and submitted: "O Messenger of Allah! Abu Ma'qil had promised me that he would not perform Hajj without me, but he performed Hajj on his mount while I did not have the strength to walk. Then, when I asked him for part of the harvest of the date palms, he said that it is the food of his family; and when I asked him for a young camel that he had, he said that it is dedicated to the path of Allah (jihad) and he would not give it to me." At this, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "O Abu Ma'qil! What is Umm Ma'qil saying?" He submitted: "Messenger of Allah! She has spoken the truth." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Give her that young camel of yours, for Hajj is also included in the path of Allah Almighty." So he gave her that camel.
This narration is evidence that the blessed journey of Hajj is also counted among the deeds "fi sabilillah" (in the path of Allah).
