وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ رُشَيْدٍ ، ثَنَا حَفْصٌ هُوَ ابْنُ غِيَاثٍ ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ بْنِ سَوَّارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُبَيْرَةَ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ شَيْبَانَ ، قَالَ : أَتَيْتُ الْمَسْجِدَ ، فَدَخَلْتُ ، فَأَسْنَدْتُ ظَهْرِي إِلَى حُجْرَةِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَإِذَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتَسَحَّرُ ، فَتَنَحْنَحْتُ ، فَقَالَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَبُو يَحْيَى ، هَلُمَّ إِلَى الْغَدَاءِ ، قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ، إِنِّي أُرِيدُ الصِّيَامَ ، قَالَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : وَأَنَا أُرِيدُ الصِّيَامَ ، وَلَكِنَّ مُؤَذِّنَنَا هَذَا فِي بَصَرِهِ سُوءٌ ، أَوْ فِي بَصَرِهِ شَيْءٌ ، فَإِنَّهُ أَذَّنَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَطْلُعَ الْفَجْرُ .
1058 \ 2 - وَقَالَ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ فِي مُسْنَدِهِ وَمُطَيَّنٌ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الشَّعْثَاءِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ ، ثَنَا حَفْصٌ ، بِهِ . [3]
1058 \ 3 - وَقَالَ الْحَسَنُ أَيْضًا وَالْبَغَوِيُّ : ثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ رُشَيْدٍ ، بِهِ .
1058 \ 4 - وَرَوَاهُ ابْنُ أَبِي خَيْثَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ بِهِ . وَسَمَّى أَبَا هُبَيْرَةَ يَحْيَى بْنَ عَبَّادٍ .
1058 \ 5 - وَقَالَ ابْنُ مَنْدَهْ : أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ الْإِمَامُ .
1058 \ 6 - وَقَالَ ابْنُ السَّكَنِ : أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الطَّائِيُّ ، قَالَا : أَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مَرْوَانَ ، ثَنَا عَمِّي جُنَادَةُ بْنُ مَرْوَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ بْنِ سَوَّارٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَبَّادِ بْنِ شَيْبَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ ، بِهِ .
1058 \ 7 - قَالَ ابْنُ مَنْدَهْ : وَتَابَعَهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ شَرِيكٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ ، يَعْنِي مِنْ قَوْلِهِ : عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ .
قُلْتُ : وَالْأَوَّلُ أَشْبَهُ بِالصَّوَابِ .

قُلْتُ : وَالْأَوَّلُ أَشْبَهُ بِالصَّوَابِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Shayban (may Allah be pleased with him) (the grandfather of Abu Hubayrah): I came to the mosque and sat leaning my back against the wall of the blessed apartment of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Suddenly I saw that he (peace and blessings be upon him) was taking his pre-dawn meal, so I cleared my throat (to make my presence felt). At that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Abu Yahya! Come, come to the meal (the pre-dawn meal)." I said: O Messenger of Allah! I intend to fast. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I too intend to fast, but this muezzin of ours has some weakness or defect in his eyesight, so he has called the adhan before the dawn has risen."
Imam al-Hasan bin Sufyan in his Musnad, and Imam Mutayyan, also recorded it through the chain of Hafs, while Imam al-Hasan and Imam al-Baghawi narrated it through Dawud bin Rushayd. Ibn Abi Khaythamah recorded it through Asim bin Ali from Qays bin al-Rabi' and Ash'ath, and named Abu Hubayrah as Yahya bin Abbad. Ibn Mandah, through al-Hasan bin Mansur, and Ibn al-Sakan, through Muhammad bin Abdullah al-Ta'i, narrated this report from al-Walid bin Marwan, from his paternal uncle Junadah, from his father, through Ash'ath, from Yahya bin Abbad bin Shayban, from his father, from his grandfather. Imam Ibn Mandah says that Abd al-Rahman bin Shurayk also supported this, from his father, from Ash'ath, with the words "from his father, from his grandfather."
I (Ibn Hajar) say: The first chain (in which Yahya bin Abbad narrates from his grandfather) is closer to being correct.
