It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "When a pregnant woman and a nursing woman fear (for their own health or that of the child if they fast), they should leave the fast and feed (a poor person as ransom), and making up those fasts is not required of them." The chain of this report is hasan (good).
Imam Abu Dawud also recorded this hadith through this same chain, but in his narration the words "and making up those fasts is not required of them" are not mentioned.
