حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ شَقِيقٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْحَارِثِ قَالَ : خَرَجْتُ مَعَ عَبْدِ اللهِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ ، فَكَانَ يَمْسَحُ عَلَى الْخُفِّ ثَلَاثًا .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Amr bin al-Harith (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "I set out with Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) towards Madinah, and he (in the state of travel) used to wipe over his leather socks for three days and three nights."
The chain of this report (athar) is strong, and it indicates the permissibility of the legal three-day period of wiping over leather socks for the traveller.
