Sayyiduna al-Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the skin of a servant shivers out of fear of Allah Almighty, his sins fall away from him just as leaves fall from a withered tree."
Al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains a woman, Umm Kulthum bint al-Abbas, whom I do not know. The remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna al-Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We were sitting with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) beneath a tree. The wind blew, the dry leaves of that tree fell and the green leaves remained on it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What is the likeness of this tree?" The people said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Its likeness is that of the believer: when he (the believer) shivers out of fear of Allah Almighty, his sins fall away from him and his good deeds remain for him."
Abu Ya'la recorded it as a report of Harun bin Abi al-Jawza' from Sayyiduna al-Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), and I do not know Harun. The remaining narrators of this report have been declared trustworthy, although there is weakness in a narrator named Muhammad bin Umar bin al-Rumi; Ibn Hibban declared him thiqah (trustworthy).
