بَابُ حُسْنِ الظَّنِّ بِاللَّهِ تَعَالَى .

وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ - يَعْنِي ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ - قَالَ : وَالَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ غَيْرُهُ ، لَا يُحْسِنُ عَبْدٌ بِاللَّهِ الظَّنَّ إِلَّا أَعْطَاهُ ظَنَّهُ ، وَذَاكَ بِأَنَّ الْخَيْرَ فِي يَدِهِ . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ مَوْقُوفًا ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ إِلَّا أَنَّ الْأَعْمَشَ لَمْ يُدْرِكِ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: "By the One besides whom there is no other god! When a servant holds a good opinion of Allah Almighty, Allah Almighty grants him according to his opinion. The reason for this is that all good is in His hand of power."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration as a mawquf narration (stopping at the Companion), and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except that the narrator named al-A'mash did not live in the time of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him).

وَعَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ حَيْدَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " قَالَ اللَّهُ : أَنَا عِنْدَ ظَنِّ عَبْدِي بِي " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ يُحَنَّسُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَلَمْ أَعْرِفْهُ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ . وَقَدْ تَقَدَّمَتْ أَحَادِيثُ فِي حُسْنِ الظَّنِّ فِي الْجَنَائِزِ .
Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah bin Haydah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Allah Almighty says: I am as My servant thinks of Me."
