Imam Tabarani says: This is al-Ahnaf bin Qays, who has the distinction of being a mukhadram (that is, he lived in both the Days of Ignorance and the era of Islam). His name is Sakhr bin Qays bin Mu'awiyah bin Husayn bin Ubadah bin Nazzal bin Murrah bin Ubayd bin al-Harith bin Amr bin Sa'd bin Zayd Manat bin Tamim bin Murrah.

Hadith Takhrij«اخرجه الطبراني فى المعجم الكبير (32/8)»
Al-Ahnaf bin Qays narrates: Once I was circumambulating the House of Allah when a man from Banu Sulaym met me and said: "Shall I not give you good news?" I said: "Yes, indeed!" He said: "Do you remember when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent me to your people, Banu Sa'd, to invite them to Islam, and you said: 'Yes! By Allah! He has said nothing but good,' or: 'I hear nothing but good'? I went back and told the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) what you had said, and he said: 'O Allah! Forgive al-Ahnaf.'" Sayyiduna al-Ahnaf (may Allah be pleased with him) says: There is nothing I have more hope in than that (that is, the supplication of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)).
Ahmad and Tabarani recorded it; the narrators of Ahmad are the narrators of the Sahih, except Ali bin Zayd, who is hasan al-hadith (good in hadith).
