Sayyiduna Abu Qirsafah (may Allah be pleased with him), who was a Companion of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), narrates: The beginning of my Islam came about thus: I was an orphan child; I lived with my mother and my maternal aunt, and I stayed mostly with my aunt. I used to graze some goats, and my aunt would often say to me: "Do not pass by that man" (by whom she meant the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)), "or else he will lead you astray and make you lose your way." The narrator says: I would set out until I reached my pasture, I would leave my goats there, and then (once) I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I kept listening to his talk continually. Then in the evening I came back with my goats, and their udders were dry. My aunt said to me: "What is the reason that your goats' udders are dry?" I said: "I do not know." Then on the second day I came into the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and I did just as I had done on the first day, except that during this time I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying:
"O people! Emigrate and hold firmly to Islam, for emigration will not come to an end as long as jihad continues."
Then in the evening I went back with my goats, just as I had brought them back on the first day. Then on the third day I came into the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), kept listening to his talk and remained with him, until I accepted Islam, pledged allegiance at his noble hand, and shook hands with him. Then I mentioned the matter of my aunt to him as a complaint, and I mentioned the matter of my goats. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Bring those goats to me." I brought them to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed his hand over their backs and udders and prayed for blessing in them, and those goats became full of fat and milk. When I brought those goats to my aunt, she said: "O my son! Graze them like this always." I said: "O aunt! I have grazed them just as I graze them every day, but now I will tell you my story." Then I told her the whole situation, and told her how I had come into the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and I told her about the conduct and the speech of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Then my mother and my aunt said to me: "Take us to him as well." So I, my mother and my aunt went. Those women accepted Islam and pledged allegiance at the noble hand of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not shake hands with those women.
The narrator says: So this is the account of Sayyiduna Abu Qirsafah (may Allah be pleased with him) accepting Islam and of his emigration to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Sayyiduna Abu Qirsafah (may Allah be pleased with him) used to live in the land of Tihamah.
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyidah Azzah bint Iyad bin Abi Qirsafah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Romans took a son of Sayyiduna Abu Qirsafah (may Allah be pleased with him) captive. So at the time of every prayer, Sayyiduna Abu Qirsafah (may Allah be pleased with him) would stand on the walls of the city of Asqalan and call out in a loud voice: "O so-and-so! The time of prayer has come." And his son would hear his voice, even though he was in the land of the Romans.
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
