Sayyiduna Damrah bin Tha'labah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: He came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wearing two robes of Yemeni make. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Damrah, do you think these two garments of yours will admit you into Paradise?" He said: O Messenger of Allah, if you seek forgiveness for me, I will not sit down before I have taken them off. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Allah, forgive Damrah." So he went off quickly and took off those garments.
Imam Ahmad and Imam al-Tabarani recorded it.

It is reported from him that he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: Pray to Allah Almighty for martyrdom for me. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Allah, make the blood of Ibn Tha'labah forbidden to the polytheists and the disbelievers." The narrator says: I used to charge into the midst of the enemy, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would appear to me behind them. The people would say: O Ibn Tha'labah, you are charging at the enemy without regard for the consequences! He would say: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) appears to me behind them, so I charge at them until I come and stand beside the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); then my companions appear to me, so I charge until I rejoin my companions. The narrator says: He (that Companion) lived a long life.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it, and its chain is hasan (good).
