عَنْ ضَمْرَةَ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ : أَنَّهُ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَعَلَيْهِ حُلَّتَانِ مِنْ حُلَلِ الْيَمَنِ ، فَقَالَ : " يَا ضَمْرَةُ ، أَتُرَى ثَوْبَيْكَ هَذَيْنِ مُدْخِلَيْكَ الْجَنَّةَ ؟ " . فَقَالَ : لَئِنِ اسْتَغْفَرْتَ لِي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَا أَقْعُدُ حَتَّى أَنْزِعَهُمَا عَنِّي . فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِضَمْرَةَ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ " . فَانْطَلَقَ سَرِيعًا حَتَّى نَزْعَهُمَا عَنْهُ . رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَالطَّبَرَانِيُ .
Sayyiduna Damrah bin Tha'labah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: He came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wearing two robes of Yemeni make. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Damrah, do you think these two garments of yours will admit you into Paradise?" He said: O Messenger of Allah, if you seek forgiveness for me, I will not sit down before I have taken them off. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Allah, forgive Damrah." So he went off quickly and took off those garments.
