Al-Tabarani says: This is Sayyiduna Amir bin Fuhayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), a client (mawla) of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him). He was one of the earliest Muhajirun. He emigrated from Makkah to Madinah together with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him). He had the honour of taking part in the Battle of Badr, and he was martyred on the day of Bi'r Ma'unah.

Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once Sayyiduna Talhah bin Ubaydullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said something harsh to Sayyiduna Amir bin Fuhayrah, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Talhah! Stop! For he too took part in Badr just as you took part in it, and the best of you are those who are best towards their mawali (freed slaves)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in all three books; its chain contains Mus'ab bin Mus'ab, who is da'if (weak).
