عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ - فِي تَسْمِيَةِ مَنْ شَهِدَ بَدْرًا مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ ثُمَّ مِنْ بَنِي عَبْدِ شَمْسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ مَنَافٍ - : سَالِمٌ مَوْلَى أَبِي حُذَيْفَةَ . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ مُرْسَلًا ، وَإِسْنَادُهُ حَسَنٌ .
Urwah bin al-Zubayr, among the names of those who took part in the Battle of Badr from Quraysh, from the branch of Banu Abd Shams bin Abd Manaf, mentioned Sayyiduna Salim (may Allah be pleased with him), the mawla of Sayyiduna Abu Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him).

وَعَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ قَالَ : كَانَ فَزَعٌ بِالْمَدِينَةِ ، فَأَتَيْتُ عَلَى سَالِمٍ مَوْلَى أَبِي حُذَيْفَةَ وَهُوَ مُحْتَبٍ بِحَمَائِلِ سَيْفِهِ ، فَأَخَذْتُ سَيْفِي فَاحْتَبَيْتُ بِحَمَائِلِهِ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ ، أَلَّا كَانَ مَفْزَعُكُمْ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ ؟ " . قَالَ : " أَلَا فَعَلْتُمْ كَمَا فَعَلَ هَذَانِ الرَّجُلَانِ الْمُؤْمِنَانِ ؟ " . رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Sayyiduna Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once a state of alarm arose in Madinah, so I came to Salim (may Allah be pleased with him), the mawla of Sayyiduna Abu Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him). He had his sword hung around his neck, so I too took my sword and hung it around my neck. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O people! Why did you not turn to Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) in the time of danger?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Could you not have done what these two believing men have done?"

وَعَنْ عَائِشَةَ : أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - سَمِعَ سَالِمًا مَوْلَى أَبِي حُذَيْفَةَ يَقْرَأُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ ، فَقَالَ : " الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي جَعَلَ فِي أُمَّتِي مِثْلَهُ " . رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Sayyidah Aishah al-Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) heard Sayyiduna Salim (may Allah be pleased with him), the mawla of Sayyiduna Abu Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him), reciting at night, and he said: "All praise belongs to Allah Almighty, who has made people like him in my Ummah."
