Muhammad bin Ali al-Madini says: Sayyidah Asma' bint Abi Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with them both) passed away in the year 73 AH, a few days after the martyrdom of her son Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyidah Asma' (may Allah be pleased with her) was the paternal half-sister of Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her). The name of the mother of Sayyidah Asma' bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with them both) was Qutaylah bint Abd al-Uzza bin Abd As'ad, and she was from Banu Malik bin Hisl. When Sayyidah Asma' (may Allah be pleased with her) passed away, she was one hundred years old. Sayyidah Asma' (may Allah be pleased with her) was born twenty-seven years before the start of the Hijri calendar and seventeen years before the prophetic mission of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). At the birth of Sayyidah Asma' (may Allah be pleased with her), Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) was twenty-one years old.

Ya'la bin Harmalah narrates: I entered Makkah after the martyrdom of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him). His mother, Sayyidah Asma' bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with them both), came; she was an elderly, aged woman, tall, and her eyesight had gone. She said to al-Hajjaj: Has the time not yet come for this rider to dismount?
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration; its chain contains a narrator, Yahya bin Ya'la, who is da'if (weak).
