بَابُ فَضْلِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا

قَالَ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ : أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ ، وَاسْمُهَا : هِنْدُ بِنْتُ أَبِي أُمَيَّةَ حُذَيْفَةَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ مَخْزُومِ بْنِ يَقَظَةَ بْنِ مُرَّةَ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ لُؤَيِّ بْنِ غَالِبٍ .
حَدَّثَنَا بِهَذِهِ النِّسْبَةِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ، حَدَّثْنَا الزُّبَيْرُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ قَالَ : وَكَانَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ قَبْلَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - عِنْدَ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْأَسَدِ ، فَوَلَدَتْ لَهُ سَلَمَةَ وَعُمَرَ وَزَيْنَبَ ، ثُمَّ تُوُفِّيَ عَنْهَا ، فَخَلَفَ عَلَيْهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - .
حَدَّثَنَا بِهَذِهِ النِّسْبَةِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ، حَدَّثْنَا الزُّبَيْرُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ قَالَ : وَكَانَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ قَبْلَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - عِنْدَ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْأَسَدِ ، فَوَلَدَتْ لَهُ سَلَمَةَ وَعُمَرَ وَزَيْنَبَ ، ثُمَّ تُوُفِّيَ عَنْهَا ، فَخَلَفَ عَلَيْهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - .
At-Tabarani says: The name of Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) is Hind bint Abi Umayyah Hudhayfah bin al-Mughirah bin Abdullah bin Umar bin Makhzum bin Yaqazah bin Murrah bin Ka'b bin Lu'ayy bin Ghalib. He says: Ali bin Abd al-Aziz narrated this lineage to us from Zubayr bin Bakkar, who says: Before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) was the wife of Sayyiduna Abu Salamah Abdullah bin Abd al-Asad (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) bore him his children Sayyiduna Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyidah Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her). Then he passed away, and after him the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her).
وَعَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : أَنَّهُ أَتَاهَا فَلَفَّ رِدَاءَهُ وَوَضَعَهُ عَلَى أُسْكُفَّةِ الْبَابِ ، وَاتَّكَأَ عَلَيْهِ ، وَقَالَ : "هَلْ لَكَ يَا أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ ؟ " . قَالَتْ : إِنِّي امْرَأَةٌ شَدِيدَةُ الْغَيْرَةِ ، وَأَخَافُ أَنْ يَبْدُوَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - مِنِّي مَا يَكْرَهُ . فَانْصَرَفَ ثُمَّ عَادَ ، فَقَالَ : " هَلْ لَكِ يَا أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ ؟ إِنْ كَانَ بِكِ الزِّيَادَةُ فِي صَدَاقِكِ زِدْنَا ؟ " . فَعَادَتْ لِقَوْلِهَا . فَقَالَتْ أُمُّ عَبْدٍ : يَا أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ ، تَدْرِينَ مَا يَتَحَدَّثُ بِهِ نِسَاءُ قُرَيْشٍ ؟ يَقُلْنَ : إِنَّ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ إِنَّمَا رَدَّتْ مُحَمَّدًا ; لِأَنَّهَا تُرِيدُ شَابًّا مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ أَحْدَثَ مِنْهُ سِنًّا ، وَأَكْثَرَ مِنْهُ مَالًا ! قَالَ : فَأَتَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَتَزَوَّجَهَا . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
قُلْتُ : وَقَدْ تَقَدَّمَ فِي فَضْلِ أَهْلِ الْبَيْتِ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ لَهَا : " إِنَّكِ عَلَى خَيْرِهِ " .
قُلْتُ : وَقَدْ تَقَدَّمَ فِي فَضْلِ أَهْلِ الْبَيْتِ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ لَهَا : " إِنَّكِ عَلَى خَيْرِهِ " .
Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates about the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to her, folded his cloak, placed it on the threshold of the door, leaned against it and said: O Umm Salamah! Are you interested in this? She said: I am a very jealous woman, and I fear that I might do something in front of the Messenger of Allah that he would dislike. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went away. Then he came again and said: O Umm Salamah! Are you interested in this (in marrying me)? If you want an increase in your dowry (mahr), we will give more. Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) repeated what she had said. Sayyidah Umm Abd (may Allah be pleased with her) said: O Umm Salamah! Do you know what the women of Quraysh are talking about? They are saying that Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) did not accept the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) proposal because she wants to marry some young man of Quraysh who is younger in age and has more wealth. The narrator says: Then Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) went to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married her.
At-Tabarani recorded it; its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: It has already passed in the chapter on the virtues of the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) Ahl al-Bayt that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: "You are upon goodness."
At-Tabarani recorded it; its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: It has already passed in the chapter on the virtues of the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) Ahl al-Bayt that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: "You are upon goodness."
وَعَنِ الْهَيْثَمِ بْنِ عَدِيٍّ قَالَ : أَوَّلُ مَنْ هَلَكَ مِنْ أَزْوَاجِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - زَيْنَبُ بِنْتُ جَحْشٍ ، هَلَكَتْ فِي خِلَافَةِ عُمَرَ ، وَآخِرُ مَنْ هَلَكَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ زَمَنَ يَزِيدَ بْنِ مُعَاوِيَةَ سَنَةَ ثِنْتَيْنِ وَسِتِّينَ . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ .
Haytham bin Adi says: Among the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the first to pass away was Sayyidah Zaynab bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with her); she passed away during the caliphate of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). The last of all the wives to pass away was Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), who passed away during the reign of Yazid bin Mu'awiyah in 62 AH.
