Shabbab al-Usfuri narrates (the lineage of Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) is as follows:) "Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Zayd bin Amr bin Nufayl bin Abd al-Uzza bin Rabah bin Abdullah bin Qurt bin Razah bin Adi bin Ka'b. The kunyah of Sayyiduna Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) was Abu al-A'war. His mother's name was Fatimah bint Na'jah bin Umayyah bin Khuwaylid, and she belonged to the tribe of Khuza'ah."

Urwah narrates: Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Zayd bin Amr bin Nufayl (may Allah be pleased with him) arrived from Syria after the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had returned from Badr. He spoke with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) allotted him his share. He said: "O Messenger of Allah! And my reward? People are talking about this." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You will receive your reward as well."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration, and its chain is hasan (good). He also recorded something similar from al-Zuhri.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Ten people from Quraysh will go to Paradise: Abu Bakr and Umar will go to Paradise, Uthman will be in Paradise, Ali will be in Paradise, Talhah will be in Paradise, al-Zubayr will be in Paradise, Sa'd will be in Paradise, Sa'id will be in Paradise, Abd al-Rahman bin Awf will be in Paradise, and Abu Ubaydah bin al-Jarrah will be in Paradise."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration in all three of his books. Its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except Hamid bin Yahya al-Balkhi, and he is thiqah (trustworthy). This hadith has various chains, which appear in the chapter on the virtues of a group of the Companions.

Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Zayd bin Amr bin Nufayl (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) sent a message to Marwan bin al-Hakam in Madinah so that he would convey the message concerning Yazid, the son of Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him). A man from the people of Syria said: "He will not accept what you say until Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) comes to me and gives the pledge of allegiance, for he is the most eminent man of the city; when he gives the pledge, the rest of the people will give it too."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration. Its chain contains a narrator, Ata' bin al-Sa'ib, who is thiqah (trustworthy) but later suffered from confusion (ikhtilat), and the remaining narrators of this narration are the narrators of the Sahih.

Yahya bin Bukayr narrates: Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Zayd bin Amr bin Nufayl (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away in 51 AH at the age of seventy-odd years. He was buried in Madinah; he had passed away at al-Aqiq. Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) went down into his grave. His kunyah was Abu al-A'war.

Sayyidah Aishah bint Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) washed the body of Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) at al-Aqiq. Then they lifted his body and brought it. Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) came walking until, when he came opposite his house, he went inside, took a bath (ghusl) and then came out and said: "I did not take a bath because I had washed Sayyiduna Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him); rather, I took a bath because of the heat."
