Amir al-Sha'bi narrates: Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked: "When was your supplication accepted?" He replied: "On the day of Badr I was shooting arrows in front of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I would place the arrow in the bow and then say: 'O Allah, shake their feet, cast terror into their hearts, and do this and that to them.' And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would say: 'O Allah, answer Sa'd's supplication.'"
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its chain is hasan (good). It has already passed in the account of Uhud that the arrows Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) shot that day numbered one thousand.

I think you are going to meet with some harm from me. Are you anything but Ibn Mas'ud, a slave from the Banu Hudhayl?" Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Yes, I am indeed Ibn Mas'ud, and you are the son of Hamnah." Hashim bin Utbah said to the two of them: "You are both Companions of the Messenger of Allah, and the people are looking at you." So Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) put down a stick that was in his hand, then raised his hand and said: "O Allah! O Lord of the heavens!" Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: "Say whatever you wish, but do not curse." So Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) fell silent. Then Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "By Allah! Were it not for the fear of Allah Almighty, I would have made a supplication against you that would not have missed you."

Amir bin Sa'd narrates: Once Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) was walking along when he passed by a man who was reviling Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: "You are reviling people for whom (virtue) has already gone ahead from Allah Almighty. By Allah! Either you will stop reviling them, or I will supplicate to Allah Almighty against you." The man said: "He is frightening me as though he were a prophet!" Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "O Allah! If this man is reviling people for whom (good) has already gone ahead from You, then make him an example this very day." The narrator says: Just then a Bactrian she-camel came, the people scattered because of it, and the she-camel trampled that man. I saw the people hurrying after Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him), saying: "O Abu Ishaq! Allah Almighty has answered your supplication."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Qabisah bin Jabir narrates: On the day of al-Qadisiyyah a cousin of ours said to us: "Did you not see that Allah Almighty sent down His help, while Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) was holding fast to the gate of al-Qadisiyyah? When we returned, many women had been widowed, but none of Sayyiduna Sa'd's women had been widowed." When Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) learned of what he had said, he said: "O Allah! Cut off his tongue and his hand from me." Then an arrow came and struck the man in the mouth, and he became mute; then his hand was cut off during the fighting. Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Carry me and take me to the gate!" He was carried out, and the cloth was removed from his back, and there were many sores on it. He told the people of his excuse, and the people accepted his excuse. Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) was not a coward.
