بَابٌ فِي شَجَاعَتِهِ وَحَمْلِهِ اللِّوَاءَ - رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ - .

عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ : أَخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - الرَّايَةَ فَهَزَّهَا ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " مَنْ يَأْخُذُهَا بِحَقِّهَا ؟ " . فَجَاءَ الزُّبَيْرُ ، فَقَالَ : أَنَا ، فَقَالَ : " أَمِطْ " . ثُمَّ قَامَ رَجُلٌ آخَرُ ، فَقَالَ : أَنَا ، فَقَالَ : " أَمِطْ " . ثُمَّ قَامَ آخَرُ ، فَقَالَ : أَنَا ، فَقَالَ : " أَمِطْ " .
فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " وَالَّذِي أَكْرَمَ وَجْهَ مُحَمَّدٍ لَأُعْطِيَنَّهَا رَجُلًا لَا يَفِرُّ ، هَاكَ يَا عَلِيُّ " . فَقَبَضَهَا ، ثُمَّ انْطَلَقَ حَتَّى فَتَحَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ فَدَكَ وَخَيْبَرَ ، وَجَاءَ بِعَجْوَتِهَا وَقَدِيدِهَا .
رَوَاهُ أَبُو يَعْلَى ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ غَيْرَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عِصْمَةَ ، وَهُوَ ثِقَةٌ يُخْطِئُ .
فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " وَالَّذِي أَكْرَمَ وَجْهَ مُحَمَّدٍ لَأُعْطِيَنَّهَا رَجُلًا لَا يَفِرُّ ، هَاكَ يَا عَلِيُّ " . فَقَبَضَهَا ، ثُمَّ انْطَلَقَ حَتَّى فَتَحَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ فَدَكَ وَخَيْبَرَ ، وَجَاءَ بِعَجْوَتِهَا وَقَدِيدِهَا .
رَوَاهُ أَبُو يَعْلَى ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ غَيْرَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عِصْمَةَ ، وَهُوَ ثِقَةٌ يُخْطِئُ .
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took the banner, waved it and then said: Who will take it with its due right? Sayyiduna al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) came and said: I will. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Step back. Then another man came and said: I will. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Step back. Then another man stood up and said: I will. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Step back. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: By the One who has honoured Muhammad, I will give this banner to a man who will not flee. Ali, come forward! Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) took the banner and then set off, until Allah Almighty granted him the conquest of Fadak and Khaybar, and he brought back their ajwah dates and dried meat (qadid).

وَعَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - لَا يَبْعَثُ عَلِيًّا مَبْعَثًا إِلَّا أَعْطَاهُ الرَّايَةَ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ ضِرَارُ بْنُ صُرَدَ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .

Sayyiduna Imam Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Whenever the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) on any mission, he (peace and blessings be upon him) gave him the banner.

وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ : دَفَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - الرَّايَةَ إِلَى عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ، وَهُوَ ابْنُ عِشْرِينَ سَنَةً .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَإِسْنَادُهُ حَسَنٌ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the banner to Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) when he was twenty years old.
