Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) set out to emigrate to the land of Abyssinia, and with him was Sayyidah Ruqayyah (may Allah be pleased with her), the daughter of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). For a long time the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) received no news of them. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would go out and ask about their welfare. Then a woman came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and informed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "After Sayyiduna Lut (peace be upon him), Uthman is the first person to have emigrated to Allah Almighty with his wife."
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains al-Hasan bin Ziyad al-Burjumi, and I do not know him. The rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Between Uthman and Ruqayyah and Sayyiduna Lut (peace be upon him) there was no emigrant." The narrator says: This means that Sayyiduna Uthman and Sayyidah Ruqayyah (may Allah be pleased with them both) were the first to emigrate to Abyssinia.
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains Uthman bin Khalid al-Uthmani, who is matruk (abandoned).
