Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The first thing to be taken away from people will be trustworthiness, and the last thing to remain will be prayer; and many a person who prays will have no good in him."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Saghir. Its chain contains Hakim bin Nafi', whom Yahya bin Ma'in declared thiqah (trustworthy) and Abu Zur'ah declared da'if (weak). The remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The first things to be taken away from this Ummah will be modesty and trustworthiness, and the last thing to remain will be prayer. The narrator says: I think he also said: Some people will pray, yet they will have no share (in the Hereafter)."
Abu Ya'la recorded it. Its chain contains Ash'ath bin Barraz, who is matruk (abandoned). A statement of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) on this subject will also come in the subsequent chapter.
