كتاب الفتن - أعاذنا الله منها
Book of Tribulations (may Allah protect us from them)
بَابُ يَذْهَبُ الصَّالِحُونَ وَتَبْقَى حُثَالَةٌ .
The righteous will pass away and the worthless will remain

عَنِ الْمُسْتَوْرِدِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَذْهَبُ الصَّالِحُونَ الْأَوَّلَ فَالْأَوَّلَ ، وَتَبْقَى حُثَالَةٌ كَحُثَالَةِ التَّمْرِ لَا يُبَالِي اللَّهُ بِهِمْ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ .

Sayyiduna al-Mustawrid bin Shaddad (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The righteous will depart one after another, and worthless people will remain, like worthless dates, and Allah Almighty will not care about them at all."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
