Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The people of La ilaha illallah (there is no god but Allah) will continue to remain upon good as long as they take care that their worldly affairs are not causing any decrease in their religion. But when they do not care what decrease is occurring in their religion for the sake of improving their worldly life, then (their testimony) will be thrown back at them (or rejected), and it will be said: 'You were not truthful.'"
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Amr bin Abd al-Ghaffar, who is matruk (abandoned).

But when those who say this word do not care how much harm is done to their religion for the sake of the safety of their worldly life, and still they say La ilaha illallah, it will be said to them: 'You are lying.'"
