Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We said: "O Messenger of Allah! Should we not enjoin good until we ourselves act upon it, and not forbid evil until we ourselves avoid all evils?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "(No!) Rather, enjoin good even if you do not act upon it, and forbid evil even if you do not avoid all evils."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Saghir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat by way of Abd al-Salam bin Abd al-Quddus bin Habib from his father, and both of them are da'if (weak).
