Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Caution is of no avail against the decree, and supplication benefits as long as the decree has not descended. Affliction and supplication meet between the heaven and the earth and then wrestle with each other until the Day of Resurrection."
Al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains Ibrahim bin Khuthaym, who is matruk (abandoned).

Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Caution is of no avail against the decree, and supplication benefits in a matter where the command of the decree has not yet descended. Supplication meets affliction, and then the two wrestle with each other until the Day of Resurrection."
Al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains Zakariyya bin Manzur, whom Ahmad bin Salih al-Misri declared thiqah (trustworthy), while the majority declared him da'if (weak). (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: other hadiths of this kind will come later in the Book of Supplication, if Allah wills.
