بَابُ الْقِرَاءَةِ بِالصَّوْتِ الْحَسَنِ .

عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " زَيِّنُوا أَصْوَاتَكُمْ بِالْقُرْآنِ "
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Adorn your voices with the Qur'an."
وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ " أَحْسِنُوا أَصْوَاتَكُمْ بِالْقُرْآنِ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ بِإِسْنَادَيْنِ ، وَفِي أَحَدِهِمَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ خِرَاشٍ ، وَثَّقَهُ ابْنُ حِبَّانَ ، وَقَالَ : رُبَّمَا أَخْطَأَ ، وَوَثَّقَهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ ، وَغَيْرُهُ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
In one narration the words are: "Make your voices beautiful with the Qur'an."
Al-Tabarani recorded it with two chains; one of them contains a narrator, Abdullah bin Khirash, whom Ibn Hibban declared thiqah (trustworthy), and he said: He sometimes made mistakes. Al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) and others declared him da'if (weak). The remaining narrators of this report are the narrators of the Sahih.

وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي نَهِيكٍ قَالَ : بَيْنَا أَنَا وَاقِفٌ وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ السَّائِبِ إِذْ مَرَّ بِنَا أَبُو لُبَابَةَ ، فَاتَّبَعْنَاهُ حَتَّى دَخَلَ بَيْتَهُ ، فَاسْتَأْذَنَّا فَأَذِنَ لَنَا ، فَإِذَا رَجُلٌ رَبُّ الْمَتَاعِ ، فَقَالَ : مَنْ أَنْتُمْ ؟ فَانْتَسَبْنَا إِلَيْهِ ، فَقَالَ : مَرْحَبًا وَأَهْلًا بِجَارِ كَبْشِهِ . فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " لَيْسَ مِنَّا مَنْ لَمْ يَتَغَنَّ بِالْقُرْآنِ " . قَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ : قُلْتُ : يَا أَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ ، أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ حَسَنَ الصَّوْتِ ؟ قَالَ : يُحَسِّنُهُ مَا اسْتَطَاعَ . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ .
Abdullah bin Abi Nahik narrates: Once Abdullah bin al-Sa'ib and I were standing, when Sayyiduna Abu Lubabah (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by us. We followed him until he entered his house. We asked permission to come in and he gave us permission. There was a man there who was the owner of goods. He said: Who are you? We told him our lineage, and he said: Welcome to the companions. Then I heard him narrate that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He is not one of us who does not recite the Qur'an with a beautiful voice." Ibn Abi Mulaykah narrates: I asked: O Abu Muhammad, what is your view about a person whose voice is not beautiful? He replied: He should make his voice as beautiful as he can.

وَعَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " زَيِّنُوا الْقُرْآنَ بِأَصْوَاتِكُمْ " . رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَفِيهِ صَالِحُ بْنُ مُوسَى وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ .

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Everything has an ornament, and the ornament of the Qur'an is a beautiful voice."

وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ - يَعْنِي ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ - قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ حُسْنَ الْقُرْآنِ تَزْيِينٌ لِلْقُرْآنِ " . رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَفِيهِ سَعِيدُ بْنُ زُرْبَى وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "A beautiful voice is a means of adorning the Qur'an."

وَعَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ قَالَ : كُنْتُ رَجُلًا قَدْ أَعْطَانِي اللَّهُ حُسْنَ الصَّوْتِ[ بِالْقُرْآنِ ] ، وَكَانَ ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ يُرْسِلُ إِلَيَّ فَأَقْرَأُ عَلَيْهِ الْقُرْآنَ ، فَكُنْتُ إِذَا فَرَغْتُ مِنْ قِرَاءَتِي قَالَ : زِدْنَا مِنْ هَذَا فِدَاكَ أَبِي وَأُمِّي ، فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ : " حُسْنُ الصَّوْتِ زِينَةٌ لِلْقُرْآنِ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي زُرْبَى وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .
Alqamah narrates: I was a man to whom Allah Almighty had given a beautiful voice for the Qur'an. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) would send for me and I would recite the Qur'an before him. When I finished reciting, he would say: Recite more for us, may my father and mother be ransomed for you, for I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "A beautiful voice is an adornment of the Qur'an."

وَعَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - هُوَ وَعَائِشَةَ مَرَّا بِأَبِي مُوسَى وَهُوَ يَقْرَأُ فِي بَيْتِهِ ، فَقَامَا يَسْتَمِعَانِ لِقِرَاءَتِهِ ، ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمَا مَضَيَا ، فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحَ لَقِيَ أَبَا مُوسَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَقَالَ : " يَا أَبَا مُوسَى ، مَرَرْتُ بِكَ الْبَارِحَةَ وَمَعِي عَائِشَةُ وَأَنْتَ تَقْرَأُ فِي بَيْتِكَ فَقُمْنَا وَاسْتَمَعْنَا " . فَقَالَ لَهُ أَبُو مُوسَى : أَمَا إِنِّي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَوْ عَلِمْتُ لَحَبَّرْتُهُ لَكَ تَحْبِيرًا . رَوَاهُ أَبُو يَعْلَى ، وَفِيهِ خَالِدُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .
Sayyiduna Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and Sayyidah Aishah al-Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) passed by Sayyiduna Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) while he was reciting in his house. The two of them stood and began listening to his recitation, then they went on. The next morning the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) met Sayyiduna Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Abu Musa, last night I passed by your house and Aishah was with me. You were reciting in your house, so we stood and kept listening to your recitation. Sayyiduna Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted to him: O Messenger of Allah, had I known this, I would have adorned my recitation even more beautifully.
