قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى : ثُلَّةٌ مِنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ .

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ : لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ ثُلَّةٌ مِنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ وَقَلِيلٌ مِنَ الْآخِرِينَ شَقَّ ذَلِكَ عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِينَ ، فَنَزَلَتْ ثُلَّةٌ مِنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ وَثُلَّةٌ مِنَ الْآخِرِينَ . رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ مِنْ حَدِيثِ مُحَمَّدٍ بَيَّاعِ الْمُلَاءِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، وَلَمْ أَعْرِفْهُمَا ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: When this verse was revealed (Allah Almighty says): "A large group from the earlier ones, and a few from the later ones", this weighed heavily on the Muslims. Then this verse was revealed: "A large group from the earlier ones, and a large group from the later ones."
Ahmad recorded it as a narration of Muhammad Bayya' from his father, and I do not know either of them; its remaining narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

وَعَنْ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فِي قَوْلِهِ ثُلَّةٌ مِنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ وَثُلَّةٌ مِنَ الْآخِرِينَ قَالَ : " جَمِيعُهُمَا مِنْ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ بِإِسْنَادَيْنِ ، رِجَالُ أَحَدِهِمَا رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ غَيْرَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ وَهُوَ ثِقَةٌ سَيِّئُ الْحِفْظِ .
Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) concerning this statement of Allah Almighty: "A large group from the earlier ones, and a large group from the later ones." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Both of these groups belong to this Ummah.
