قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى : وَمِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَتَهَجَّدْ بِهِ نَافِلَةً لَكَ .
The words of Allah the Exalted: "And during part of the night, pray tahajjud with it as an additional act for you"

عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ : نَافِلَةً لَكَ قَالَ : إِنَّمَا كَانَتِ النَّافِلَةُ خَاصَّةً لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) states: "Additional for you": this was additional specifically for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ : سَأَلْتُ أَبَا أُمَامَةَ عَنِ النَّافِلَةِ ، قَالَ : كَانَتْ لِلنَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - نَافِلَةً ، وَلَكُمْ فَضِيلَةً . رَوَاهُ كُلَّهُ أَحْمَدُ بِإِسْنَادَيْنِ ، فِي أَحَدِهِمَا شَهْرٌ وَفِي الْآخَرِ أَبُو غَالِبٍ ، وَقَدْ وُثِّقَا وَفِيهِمَا ضَعْفٌ لَا يَضُرُّ .
In one narration the words are: I asked Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) about the additional (prayer), and he said: It was additional for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and for you it is a source of merit (that is, it is recommended). Ahmad recorded all of these reports with two chains; one chain contains a narrator, Shahr, and the other contains a narrator, Abu Ghalib. Both have been declared trustworthy, and there is a weakness in both of them that is not harmful.
