قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى :( وَاتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ الَّذِي آتَيْنَاهُ آيَاتِنَا ) .

عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ : ( وَاتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ الَّذِي آتَيْنَاهُ آيَاتِنَا ) قَالَ : هُوَ بُلْعُمٌ ، أَوْ قَالَ : بَلْعَامُ بْنُ بَاعَوْرَاءَ . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates concerning this saying of Allah Almighty: (Allah Almighty says:) "And recite to them the news of the one to whom We gave Our signs." Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: It refers to Bul'um (the narrator is unsure; perhaps the words are:) Bal'am bin Ba'ura'.

وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍ[وَ] قَالَ : نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ فِي أُمِّيَّةَ بْنِ أَبِي السَّلْطِ الَّذِي آتَيْنَاهُ آيَاتِنَا فَانْسَلَخَ مِنْهَا . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: This verse was revealed concerning Umayyah bin Abi al-Salt: (Allah Almighty says:) "The one to whom We gave Our signs, but he cast them off."
