A woman named Aminah narrates that she asked Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), about this saying of Allah Almighty: (Allah Almighty says:) "Whoever does evil will be recompensed for it." Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Since I asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about it, no one has ever asked me about it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Aishah! This is Allah Almighty's dealing with His servant: Allah Almighty afflicts the servant with trials such as fever, hardship and the prick of a thorn, even the goods which he has put in his sleeve and then finds missing, and is distressed because of it, and then finds those goods at his side (and Allah Almighty forgives the believer because of all of these), until the believer comes out of his sins just as red ore comes out of the furnace."
Ahmad recorded it; I do not know the woman named Umaynah.

Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), narrates: A man recited this verse: "Whoever does evil will be recompensed for it." That man said: "If we are to be recompensed for every deed we have done, then we will be ruined." This reached the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, the believer will be recompensed for it in this world, in the form of a calamity (illness or pain) that befalls his body and causes him harm." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: there is a hadith from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) mentioned in "the Sahih" other than this one.
Ahmad and Abu Ya'la recorded it, and the narrators of both are the narrators of the Sahih.

Hayyan bin Bistam narrates: I was with Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both). He passed by Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him), who had been crucified, and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "O Abu Khubayb, may Allah Almighty have mercy on you. I heard your father, that is Sayyiduna al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him), saying: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (Allah Almighty says:) 'Whoever does evil will be recompensed for it.' (The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) says:) that is, this will happen in this world."
Al-Bazzar recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Abd al-Rahman bin Sulaym bin Hayyan, whom I do not know; the rest of the narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).
