Abd al-Jabbar bin Abdullah narrates: A man came to Abu Bakr bin Ayyash and said: "I heard a man saying that Allah Almighty did not speak with Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him)." Abu Bakr bin Ayyash said: "That man must be a disbeliever. I recited this before al-A'mash; al-A'mash recited before Yahya bin Waththab; Yahya bin Waththab recited before Abu Abd al-Rahman; Abu Abd al-Rahman recited before Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him); and Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) recited this verse before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): 'And Allah Almighty spoke with Musa.'"
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. I do not know the narrator Abd al-Jabbar bin Abdullah; the rest of the narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).
The one whom I found narrating this report from Abu Bakr bin Ayyash is Ahmad bin Abd al-Jabbar bin Maymun, and he is da'if (weak); and that manuscript is also faulty. And Allah knows best.
