Ma'bad and Ubayd, the two sons of Imran (bin Dhuhl), narrate: A man was brought to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), and he said: "I have committed adultery." Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "In that case we will stone you, if you are muhsan (married)." The people said that he had had relations with his wife's slave girl. Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "If you forced her, then free this slave girl and give your wife another slave girl in her place." He said: "By Allah, I did force this slave girl, and I beat her." So Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) did not have him stoned; he gave an order concerning him, and he was given a punishment less than the prescribed punishment (hadd).
Al-Tabarani recorded it; I do not know either Ubayd or Ma'bad, and the rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Imam al-Sha'bi narrates: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) held the view that neither the prescribed punishment (hadd) would be carried out on this man nor would a dower (mahr) be due from him.
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except that Imam al-Sha'bi did not hear from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him).
