Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrate: Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) sent Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) to Kufah as governor, and instructed him to sit for the people and not to screen himself off from them. Then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) received news that he was screening himself off from the people and keeping the door shut against them (that is, he was not meeting the people). So Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) sent Sayyiduna Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him) and instructed him that if he arrived and the door was shut, he should set it on fire; and if it was morning, he should set off with him (Sayyiduna Sa'd) that evening, and if it was evening, he should set off with him the next morning. When Sayyiduna Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Kufah, he burned that door and sent him off (to Sayyiduna Umar).
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains Ata' bin al-Sa'ib, who had become confused (ikhtilat) in his memory.

Qays bin Abi Hazim narrates: Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), who was in Syria at the time, with the commanders of the armies sitting around him. Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "O Umar!" Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: "Here I am." Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: "You stand between Allah Almighty and these people, but there is no one between you and Allah Almighty. So look to your right and to your left, and look ahead of you and behind you: these people who are around you eat nothing but the meat of birds." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "You have spoken the truth. By Allah, I will not rise from my place until you people guarantee that every single Muslim will receive his food and his share of olive oil and vinegar." They said: "O Commander of the Believers, this rests with you; Allah Almighty has granted you abundance in provision and has given you much good."
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except Abdullah bin Ahmad, who is thiqah (trustworthy) and reliable.
