بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي الْقَسِّيَّةِ وَالْمِيثَرَةِ وَغَيْرُ ذَلِكَ .

عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ : نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - عَنِ الْمِيثَرَةِ وَالْقَسِّيَّةِ وَحَلْقَةِ الذَّهَبِ وَالْمُفَدَّمِ .
قَالَ يَزِيدُ : وَالْمِيثَرَةُ : جُلُودُ السِّبَاعِ . وَالْقَسِّيَّةُ : ثِيَابٌ مُضَلَّعَةٌ مِنْ إِبْرَيْسَمٍ يُجَاءُ بِهَا مِنْ مِصْرَ . وَالْمُفَدَّمُ : الْمُشَبَّعُ بِالْمُعَصْفَرِ .
قُلْتُ : رَوَى مِنْهُ ابْنُ مَاجَهْ النَّهْيَ عَنِ الْمُفَدَّمِ وَحَلْقَةِ الذَّهَبِ .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَفِيهِ يَزِيدُ بْنُ عَطَاءٍ الْيَشْكُرِيُّ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .
قَالَ يَزِيدُ : وَالْمِيثَرَةُ : جُلُودُ السِّبَاعِ . وَالْقَسِّيَّةُ : ثِيَابٌ مُضَلَّعَةٌ مِنْ إِبْرَيْسَمٍ يُجَاءُ بِهَا مِنْ مِصْرَ . وَالْمُفَدَّمُ : الْمُشَبَّعُ بِالْمُعَصْفَرِ .
قُلْتُ : رَوَى مِنْهُ ابْنُ مَاجَهْ النَّهْيَ عَنِ الْمُفَدَّمِ وَحَلْقَةِ الذَّهَبِ .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَفِيهِ يَزِيدُ بْنُ عَطَاءٍ الْيَشْكُرِيُّ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the mitharah, the qassi, the gold ring and the mufaddam. Yazid says: The mitharah is the skins of animals; qassi means a cloth made of raw silk that is brought from Egypt; and mufaddam means cloth dyed with safflower.
(Allamah Haythami says:) I say: Ibn Majah recorded from it the part forbidding the mufaddam and the gold ring.
Ahmad recorded it; its chain contains the narrator Yazid bin Ata al-Yashkuri, who is da'if (weak).

وَعَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ : نَهَى النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - عَنْ لُبْسِ الْحَرِيرِ ، وَالذَّهَبِ ، وَالشُّرْبِ فِي آنِيَةِ الذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةِ ، وَالْمِيثَرَةِ الْحَمْرَاءِ ، وَلُبْسُ الْقَسِّيِّ .
فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ شَيْءٌ ذَفِيفٌ مِنَ الذَّهَبِ يُرْبَطُ بِهِ الْمِسْكُ - أَوْ نَرْبُطُ بِهِ - ؟ قَالَ : " لَا اجْعَلِيهِ فِضَّةً ، وَصَفِّرِيهِ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ زَعْفَرَانٍ " .
قُلْتُ : رَوَى ابْنُ مَاجَهْ بَعْضَهُ .

Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade wearing silk and gold, drinking from vessels of gold and silver, the red mitharah, and wearing qassi. Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "O Messenger of Allah! A little gold, with which musk may be tied?" (The narrator is unsure; perhaps the words are:) "With which we may tie it?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No! Make it of silver, then rub a little saffron on it." (Allamah Haythami says:) I say: Ibn Majah recorded part of it.

وَعَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ جَابِرًا عَنْ مِيثَرَةِ الْأُرْجُوَانَ ؟ فَقَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " لَا أُزَكِّيهَا وَلَا أَلْبَسُ قَمِيصًا مَكْفُوفًا بِحَرِيرٍ وَلَا أَلْبَسُ الْقَسِّيَّ " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَفِيهِ ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، وَحَدِيثُهُ حَسَنٌ ، وَفِيهِ ضَعْفٌ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ ثِقَاتٌ .

Abu al-Zubayr says: I asked Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) about the mitharah of urjuwan (purple), and he said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I do not approve of it, and I will not wear a shirt that has silk in it, and I will not wear qassi."
Ahmad recorded it; its chain contains the narrator Ibn Lahi'ah, whose hadith is hasan (good) though there is weakness in him. The rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih and are thiqat (trustworthy).

وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ : نَهَى النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - عَنْ خَوَاتِيمَ الذَّهَبِ ، وَالْقَسِّيَّةِ ، وَالْمِيثَرَةِ الْحَمْرَاءِ الْمُشَبَّعَةِ مِنَ الصُّفْرِ . فَذَكَرَهُ .
رَوَاهُ أَبُو يَعْلَى ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade (the use of) gold rings, qassi, and the red mitharah filled with brass. The narrator then mentioned the narration as before.

وَعَنْ جَعْدَةَ بْنِ هُبَيْرَةَ قَالَ : نَهَانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - عَنْ ثَلَاثٍ : أَنْ أَتَخَتَّمَ بِالذَّهَبِ ، وَلُبْسِ الْقِسِّيِّ ، وَعَنِ الْمِيثَرَةِ .

Sayyiduna Ja'dah bin Hubayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade me three things: that I wear a gold ring, wearing qassi, and the mitharah.

وَعَنْ ثَوْبَانَ قَالَ : حَرَّمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - التَّخَتُّمَ بِالذَّهَبِ ، وَالْقَسِّيَّةِ ، وَثِيَابِ الْمُعَصْفَرِ ، وَالْمُفَدَّمِ ، وَالنُّمُّورِ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ يَزِيدُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ الرَّحَبِيُّ ، وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ .

Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade wearing gold rings, qassiyyah, safflower-dyed garments, the mufaddam, and leopard skins.

وَعَنْ أَبِي لَيْلَى قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي صَاحِبُ هَذِهِ الدَّارِ حَرِيزٌ أَوْ [ أَبُو ] حَرِيزٌ قَالَ : لَمَّا انْتَهَيْتُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَهُوَ يَخْطُبُ فَوَضَعْتُ يَدِي عَلَى مِيثَرَةِ رَحْلِهِ ، فَوَجَدْتُهُ مِنْ جِلْدِ شَاةٍ ضَائِنِيَّةٍ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ قَيْسُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ ، وَثَّقَهُ شُعْبَةُ ، وَالثَّوْرِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ ضَعْفٌ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ أَحَدِ الْإِسْنَادَيْنِ ثِقَاتٌ .

Abu Layla says: The owner of this house, Sayyiduna Hariz (may Allah be pleased with him), (the narrator is unsure; perhaps the words are:) Sayyiduna Abu Hariz (may Allah be pleased with him), narrated to me; he said: When I came into the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he was delivering a sermon. I placed my hand on the mitharah (saddle cover) of his saddle and found that it was of sheepskin.
Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains the narrator Qays bin al-Rabi', whom Shu'bah and al-Thawri declared thiqah (trustworthy), though there is weakness in him. The rest of the narrators of one of the two chains are thiqat (trustworthy).
