It is narrated from Sayyiduna Damrah bin Tha'labah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wearing two Yemeni hullahs (suits of garments). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Damrah, do you think that these two garments of yours will make you enter Paradise?" He said: "O Messenger of Allah, if you seek forgiveness for me, I will not sit down before I take them off." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Allah, forgive Damrah." So he went off quickly and took them off.
Imam Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy), except that the narrator named Baqiyyah is a mudallis (one who conceals defects in the chain).
