عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - نَهَى عَنْ لُبْسَتَيْنِ : الْمَشْهُورَةِ فِي حُسْنِهَا وَالْمَشْهُورَةِ فِي قُبْحِهَا .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ بَزِيعٌ وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade two kinds of clothing: that which is notorious for its beauty and that which is notorious for its ugliness.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Bazi', and he is da'if (weak).

وَعَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ التَّمِيمِيِّ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ الْحَسَنَ وَالْحُسَيْنَ - رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا - يَقُولَانِ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " مَنْ لَبِسَ ثَوْبًا مَشْهُورًا مِنَ الثِّيَابِ أَعْرَضَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ وَفِيهِ سُفْيَانُ بْنُ وَكِيعٍ وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .

Abu Sa'id al-Tamimi says: I heard Sayyiduna Imam Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Imam Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) say: We heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever wears a garment of notoriety, Allah Almighty will turn away from him on the Day of Resurrection."

وَعَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " مَا مِنْ أَحَدٍ يَلْبَسُ ثَوْبًا لِيُبَاهِيَ بِهِ ، فَيَنْظُرُ النَّاسُ إِلَيْهِ لَمْ يَنْظُرِ اللَّهُ إِلَيْهِ ، حَتَّى يَنْزِعَهُ مَتَى مَا نَزَعَهُ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ عَبْدُ الْخَالِقِ بْنُ زَيْدِ بْنِ وَاقَدٍ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .

Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever wears a garment through which he shows off, and people look at him, Allah Almighty will not look at him with mercy until he takes it off, whenever he takes it off."

وَعَنْ أَبِي يَعْفُورٍ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يَسْأَلُهُ رَجُلٌ : مَا أَلْبَسُ مِنَ الثِّيَابِ ؟ قَالَ : مَا لَا يَزْدَرِيكَ فِيهِ السُّفَهَاءُ وَلَا يَعِيبُكَ بِهِ الْحُلَمَاءُ . قَالَ : مَا هُوَ ؟ قَالَ : مَا بَيْنَ الْخَمْسَةِ دَرَاهِمَ إِلَى الْعِشْرِينَ دِرْهَمًا .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .

Abu Ya'fur says: I heard Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) when a man asked him: "Which clothes should I wear?" He said: "Those for which the foolish will not look down on you and for which the forbearing will not find fault with you." He asked: "Which clothes are those?" He said: "Those that cost between five dirhams and twenty dirhams."
