عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةُ أَنَّهُ قَرَّبَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - طَعَامًا فَقَالَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ : " اذْكُرُوا اسْمَ اللَّهِ وَلِيَأْكُلْ كُلُّ امْرِئٍ مِمَّا يَلِيهِ " .
قُلْتُ : لِعُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ حَدِيثٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ غَيْرُ هَذَا .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، وَحَدِيثُهُ حَسَنٌ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
قُلْتُ : لِعُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ حَدِيثٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ غَيْرُ هَذَا .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، وَحَدِيثُهُ حَسَنٌ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Sayyiduna Umar bin Abi Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he brought food to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said to his Companions: "Mention the name of Allah, and let each person eat from what is in front of him." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Umar bin Abi Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him) has a hadith in the Sahih other than this one.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains Ibn Lahi'ah, and his narration is hasan (good); the remaining narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

وَعَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ : رَآنِي الْحَكَمُ الْغِفَارِيُّ وَأَنَا آكُلُ - وَأَنَا غُلَامٌ - مِنْ هَاهُنَا وَهَاهُنَا فَقَالَ : يَا بُنَيَّ لَا تَأْكُلْ هَكَذَا ، هَكَذَا يَأْكُلُ الشَّيْطَانُ ، إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - كَانَ إِذَا وَضَعَ يَدَهُ فِي الْقَصْعَةِ - أَوْ فِي الْإِنَاءِ - لَمْ تُجَاوِزْ أَصَابِعُهُ مَوْضِعَ كَفِّهِ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ وَفِيهِ النُّعْمَانُ بْنُ شِبْلٍ وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .

Ja'far bin Abdullah narrates: Sayyiduna al-Hakam al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) saw me eating; in those days I was a boy, and I was eating from here and there. He said: "O my son! Do not eat like this; this is how the devil eats. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) put his hand into the bowl (the narrator is unsure; perhaps the words are:) into the vessel, his fingers did not go beyond the space of his palm."

وَعَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - كَانَ إِذَا أَكَلَ الطَّعَامَ لَا تَعْدُو يَدُهُ بَيْنَ عَيْنَيْهِ فِيمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ ، فَإِذَا أَتَى بِالتَّمْرِ جَالَتْ يَدُهُ .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ وَفِيهِ خَالِدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ .

Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ate food, his hand did not go beyond the space in front of him that equals the space between the two eyes; but when dates were brought to him, his hand would move around (in the vessel of dates).
